Mocktails

If you're looking for a quick way to perk up a festive event (whether it be dinner for two or a party), I offer you some Mocktail choices!

I found this great website for mixed drinks. http://www.drinksmixer.com/cat/8/ They have 700+ non-alcoholic options. I like the names--next on my list to try is an Elephant Charger. :D

Clockwise, from top: Reno Cocktail, Designated Appletini,
Evil Princess, Green Grape Glacier, Acapulco Gold

Reno Cocktail
"A cheeky little cocktail--piquant and assertive."

2 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz lime juice
1/2 oz grenadine***
1 tsp superfine sugar

Shake with ice and strain into glass.

Designated Appletini
"Classic taste, none of the hangover."

2 oz apple juice
1/2 oz simple syrup*
1/4 oz lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain into glass. Garnish with apple slice.

Evil Princess
"A complex and sophisticated blend of flavors."

1 oz grenadine***
2 oz grape juice
1 oz apple juice
1 Tbsp vanilla syrup**
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Mix together. Garnish with lime.

Green Grape Glacier
"One of my favorites. Who knew frozen grapes could be so fun?"

12 seedless green grapes, frozen
4 oz white grape juice
4 oz cold sparkling water

Blend 10 of the grapes and the grape juice in a blender 20 seconds (be sure to have the lid on). Stir in sparkling water. Garnish with last 2 grapes.

Acapulco Gold
"A taste of the islands at home."

3 oz pineapple juice
1 oz coconut cream
1 oz whipping cream
1/2 oz grapefruit juice

Shake with ice and strain into glass. Garnish with pineapple.

*For simple syrup, use 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. Bring water to a boil. Dissolve the sugar in the boiling water, stirring constantly. Once dissolved, remove from heat. Allow to cool completely and thicken, then bottle. (I was in a hurry when I was making these, so I just used some clear corn syrup instead.)

**Vanilla syrup-found with the coffee flavorers. Looking online, you can also make your own using the simple syrup as a base.

***Grenadine (syrup from red currants and pomegranates)-found with the drink (pina colada, margarita) mixes at the grocery store.

QUICK CONVERSION CHART
1/2 oz = 1 T
1 oz = 2 T
2 oz = 1/4 c
4 oz = 1/2 c
8 oz = 1 c
